Three great value villette in the Via del Porto in the town of Tuoro Sul Trasimeno on the Tuscany Umbria border. The garden has olive trees, vines and a lovely pool, 6x6m. The name refers to a port of ancient times when this was the edge of Lake Trasimeno. It is now half a kilometre from the lake - a two minute drive or fifteen minutes walk to the beach and ferry embarkation point (to one of the islands and two other towns on the lake).
Tuoro town centre is a short walk away where there are cafés, pizzerie and restaurants as well as banks, shops etc. Nearby the apartments is a restaurant and there is another at the lakeside. Scooters can be hired in Tuoro and bicycles in the next town. It is very well located for touring.
Orvieto,Todi, Montepulciano and Arezzo. Siena is forty minutes and Florence takes 80 minites by car or train; easy day trips can be made to San Gimignano and Volterra; even Rome is a cheap "awayday". Two rail lines are nearby. However, the near locality has a lot to offer. As well as the stunning scenery, dotted with medieval towns, there is tennis, cycling, sailing, wind surfing, swimming, horse riding, and ferry trips on the lake.
The Villa del Porto is ideal for visitors to Tuscany & Umbria who are on a budget. These cheap villa apartments are the perfect solution if you need somewhere affordable, with a pool, and within easy reach of the famous towns of Tuscany & Umbria!
The villa is on the site of the battle of Trasimeno where Hannibal defeated the Romans - some relics remain.
There are two houses joined by a wall, in one we rent a ground floor villetta and the one above which is slightly bigger. All have there own external private entrances. The other building has an upper villetta of the larger size. Simply but adequately furnished, shared washing machine.
Il Giardino: the ground floor villetta, has kitchen/diner, living room, 2 bedrooms, small bathroom. with shower. French doors from kitchen and one bedroom to garden. Central heating when needed. Romeo and Giulietta: the upper villette with balconies; entrance by external wide stairs; kitchen/diner, sitting room, two bathrooms, two large bedrooms and an alcove with child's bed- all principal rooms open on to balconies. Romeo also has a fireplace with wood supplied in the cooler part of the year. Both have full central heating
There is another garden apartment which is used by a member of the owners' family who looks after the pool, grounds etc.
The view is to the west where you can see the edge of the lake, Isola Maggiore, and the Tuscan hills in the distance.
All the rooms are of good size. The garden also has sun canopies, loungers and a barbecue.
Because the pool is directly outside the apartments, for safety reasons we cannot accept children under 8 years old.
